Fuzzy Logic for Non-destructive Testing for Various Composite Materials

چکیده
This paper presents the use of artificial intelligence techniques such as fuzzy logic for nondestructive X-ray testing of various products. The original presented algorithm proposes the defect presence testing in two stages in the radiographic image obtained from the inspected product. The first stage of the algorithm checks whether a possible defect (an area from the radiographic image) corresponds from the geometrical point of view (shape, size, etc., characteristics that depends entirely of the nature of the product that is inspected). If the possible defect corresponds form the geometrical point of view, then the second stage of detection is applied. This stage verifies whether the possible defect fulfills some “logical” criteria. These criteria are based on grey-level statistics for the corresponding area in question (i.e. between the possible defect area and the surrounding background there is a contrast difference of a certain level).

متن کاملA density-based fuzzy clustering technique for non-destructive detection of defects in materials
In non-destructive testing and evaluation of materials, defects contain visible aggregations of similar levels of brightness with large scale of correlation between them. In most cases, these brightnesses have no notable contrast relative to non-defect counterparts. However, the density and the size of the defect are visually the most notable features. In this paper, we have utilized human conc...
متن کاملA New Fuzzy Geometrical Approach to Classify Defects in Composite Materials
It is well known that in the Non Destructive Testing/Evaluation (NDT/E) context, Ultrasonic Echoes (UEs) and Tests (UTs) are intensively exploited to identify and characterize defects in the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP). This paper examines the localization and the classification of defects in this material from a fuzzy geometrical point of view. In particular, starting from an experi...
متن کاملMeasurement and Modelling of the Rubber Resilience based on Ultrasonic Non-destructive Testing in Tires
In tire industry, it is very crucial to evaluate physical and mechanical properties of the rubber which is used for production of the tire, to ensure the quality of the final product. Resilience is an important property of a rubber, which cannot be evaluated through direct measurement in production cycle in this industry. Therefore, non-destructive ultrasonic testing, which has been used in man...
